Professional Profile Rev. B Williams Waters

The Reverend B Williams Waters is a gifted, resourceful, creative,
assertive dedicated child of God. Her background is rich and varied. She
is a preacher, a teacher, a project manager, an event planner and a
designer. She is a musician, a playwright and a prolific songwriter and
composer who moves in a powerful prophetic and healing anointing.
Rev. B Williams Waters received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA.) degree in
Interior Design from Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas. She received
her Master of Fine Arts degree (MFA) from Southern Methodist University,
Dallas, Texas, with a double major in Education and in Art Education and
certification to teach “All-Level Art.” As a student of the Houston Graduate
School of Theology, in Houston, Texas, she earned numerous graduate
credits in divinity.
An ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME)
Church, throughout the years Rev. B Williams Waters has served the AME
Church in various capacities. At St. James Temple AME Church in Dallas,
Texas she was as minister of music. At St. Paul AME Church, Dallas,
Texas, she was founder and director of the Drinkard Timms Angelic Choir.
While Sunday School Superintendent at Smith Chapel AME Church in
Dallas, Texas, she developed and implemented a Sunday School growth
plan with significant success. At Wesley Chapel AME Church, Houston,
Texas, she wrote the curriculum and taught the New Member’s Class.
Two of Rev B Williams Waters’ children’s stories were included in the
doctoral project of Rev. Dr. Ida Baker. Her play, “The New Member,” was
produced by Presiding Elder Johnny Jennings for the Houston District of
the AME Church. She wrote the play, “Jarena Lee: Called to Preach,” about
the life of the first woman preacher in the AME Church. This play was
performed by the African Methodist Episcopal-Women in Ministry (AME-
WIM) of both the Texas Annual Conference and of the Northwest Texas
Annual Conference of the AME Church.
In 1983, Rev. B Williams Waters wrote the anthem, “Psalm 90,” for
Womens Week at Perkins School of Theology, SMU. She wrote the theme
song, “Christ in You the Hope of Glory,” for the 1992 “Women’s Crusade”
of 10th Episcopal District (Texas), AME Church. In 1996, the Texas
Conference Minister’s Choir sang two of her songs, “Colossians 3:12-17"
and “My Soul Cried, ‘Yes,’” at that year’s 10th Episcopal District Planning
Meeting of the AME Church. In 2008, she wrote the song, “Welcome to
Joy,” for the Praise Team at Joy Tabernacle AME Church, Dallas, Texas.
Rev. B Williams Waters was employed by the Treasury Department as a
Specialist in Office Planning and Design. During that time, she served as
a project manager and space planner, designing many thousands of
square feet of office space, including a computer room. She has received
many awards and letters of commendation for her work. She has been a
registered Interior Designer with the Texas Board of Architectural
Examiners.
For Rev. B Williams Waters, the hallmark of her life’s experiences has
been a call to excellence. This dedication to excellence was noted when,
in 1993, she was awarded the “Pacesetters Achievement Award” by the
Houston Chapter of the National Women of Achievement, Inc.
Called to minister to those who are in ministry, Rev. B Williams Waters
retired in 1997. Though homebound, through Pneuma International
Ministries, Inc. which she founded, she continues in Kingdom Building.
From her home, she hosts the First Friday Fellowship, prayer luncheons,
workshop, various annual Women’s Conferences and the annual
Teaching Revival. Additionally, she has volunteered as a intercessor for
the “Wining Walk Ministry” of the Second Baptist Church, Houston, Texas,
Dr. Ed Young Pastor.
Rev. B Williams Waters is the blessed mother of one son, The Rev.
Michael Williams Waters, MDiv., and a daughter-in-love, Mrs. Yulise
Reaves Waters, J.D. She is also the grandmother (Nanny) of two year old
Michael Jeremiah. She serves on the ministerial staff at Joy Tabernacle
AME Church. There, as a member of the Leadership Team, she serves as
Director of the Prayer Support Ministry. The Rev. Michael W. Waters is her
pastor.
